ASYRA FOOD INTOLERANCE TESTING

ASYRA
FOOD INTOLERANCE TESTING

DISCOVER IF THE FOODS YOU EAT ARE MAKING YOU ILL

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A FOOD ALLERGY AND A FOOD INTOLERANCE?
Food allergies are defined as any adverse (often immediate) reaction to food which involves the whole immune system. The immune system mistakes the food for a 'parasite' and attempts to rid the body of it as soon as possible. With allergies, Immunoglobulin E (IgE) is affected. Food allergy symptoms can include swollen lips, mouth and tongue, vomiting and rashes. Common allergens (substances that induce an allergic reaction) include peanuts, berries and shellfish. Food allergy testing usually requires a blood test by your GP.

Food intolerance is very different in that the symptoms often appear several hours or even days after eating the offending food. In the case of a food intolerance, partially digested food particles enter the bloodstream and trigger a normal immune system reaction (Immunoglobulin G [IgG] is affected). This reaction, different to an allergic reaction tends to lead to long term health problems such as digestive disturbances (indigestion, bloating etc), weight gain, headaches, migraine, joint and muscle pain, fatigue, mouth ulcers, mucous and sinus problems and hyperactivity. Common food intolerances include wheat, dairy, citrus, coffee, sugar and chocolate. Intolerances are common but unlike food allergies, can be reversed.

CAN ANYONE BE SCREENED?
Being a very safe and non-invasive technique, it is suitable for babies, children and adults alike.
Unfortunately, we do not screen anyone who is pregnant or who has a pacemaker fitted.

HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE?
This of course depends upon your health concerns, but the initial consultation takes about two hours and follow-up screenings take about an hour.

HOW DOES THE TEST WORK?
We use the Asyra Computerised Electro-Dermal Screening (CEDS) system. The word Asyra literally means "the physician or healer who utilises resonance analysis". The natural balance of energy and temperature of a healthy human is constant. The body will always try to regulate it back to the same point. Just as a thermometer is used to read temperatures, in the Asyra system, a highly sensitive Galvanometer (an instrument used to determine the presence, direction and strength of an electric current in a conductor) is used to monitor variations in the energy resistance of the human body via acupuncture points situated on the hands. Although based on acupuncture, the Asyra system measures the points by pressing as in 'acupressure', rather than using acupuncture needles, making this system extremely non-invasive and painless. Using the system, the practitioner applies a probe to the skin surface at the acupressure points. The machine sends a very small electronic signal (representing for example, the food or vitamin to be tested) through the skin. You only feel the touch of the probe on your fingers. The body's reaction is recorded by the Asyra system and compared with the system's acceptable reaction, to note any weakness or stress, which would indicate an intolerance (in foods), deficiency (in vitamins, minerals and nutrients) or an imbalance (in energy around the organs etc).

WHAT HAPPENS DURING A TEST?
1. Prior to the test you will be asked to fill out a health questionnaire and you will have the opportunity to discuss your health issues with the practitioner.
2. Next, your hands will be cleansed and you will be asked to hold a brass rod connected to the Asyra system, in one of your hands. The Asyra system will then be ready to perform the required test.
3. During the screening the therapist will gently press a test probe onto specific acupressure points on your hands. You will only feel the sensation of the probe touching the skin. As each reading is taken the computer displays and records the results.
4. When the screening is complete, the results are produced immediately as a detailed printed report, of which you will receive a copy.
5. The practitioner will then explain the results and make treatment recommendations based on the findings, which may include alternative foods and nutritional supplements. Most people find their condition improves greatly over the following weeks.
6. Follow-up consultations will often indicate improved absorption and reduction in food intolerances. Based on these results the treatment plan may be revised and further appointments may be required. By making specific dietary changes, supplementing depleted nutrients and using remedies to help detoxify the body and rebalance organs, positive changes in health are promoted.

WHAT CAN BE TESTED IN A FULL BODY HEALTH SCREENING?
Depending upon your specific health condition, your practitioner may choose to do a number of different tests, including the toxic triangle test, absorption and liver function test, check for hormonal imbalances and run a baseline scan which checks whether your organs are in balance (this includes adrenal glands, thyroid gland, liver, kidneys, pancreas, intestines, heart, lungs etc). If deemed necessary, your practitioner may also screen for food intolerances, vitamin, mineral and nutrient deficiencies and environmental toxins. The screening will be based on your specific problems and your practitioner will advise which tests will be most appropriate.
A full body screening can help to discover the root cause of your problems.

CAN I CONTINUE TO TAKE MEDICATION PRESCRIBED BY MY DOCTOR?
Yes. Good nutrition and dietary supplements are complementary to any medication you may be taking and we aim to work with GP's to ensure you get the best treatment for your condition.

WHAT IS THE COST INVOLVED?
*Initial consultation - £50-00
*Follow-ups - £30-00

All tests include a full printout and nutritional advice.

Please note - supplements and remedies are not included in the screening fee and must be purchased separately.
